Chairman’s Chat – August 2011

July has been another fun-packed month! I’m just sorry to have had to chose between Spitting Feathers and the Brazilica Festival. The beer was, of course, excellent, but I have also heard great things about the Samba dancers and their teeny weeny tangas!

Thanks to everyone who came along to the Boat Party and made it such a great success. I was pleased not to be the only one in eye-poppingly gaudy costume. I had to put my fake Wayfarer shades on to even look at Charles!  Dodgy  wigs or very big hair and colourful leg-wear seemed to be the order of the day. We filled the top deck of the Mark Twain, and were pleasantly surprised to find ourselves mingling on the dancefloor with a group of 18 IVC-ers from Stoke, visiting Chester for the weekend. Small world…

The diary for August and September has been filling up fast, thanks to some gentle persuasion by the Events team. Remember, that to qualify for the Xmas party subsidy, you need to put on a Bulletined event up to and including this November’s bulletin. So now would be a good time to start planning an event for September or October! We have provisionally booked the popular Anglesey weekend again for 16th – 18th September,  so put that date in your diaries.

Finally on behalf pf the Committee I would like to formally invite you all to the Christmas Party, which will be held on Saturday 17th December. Book early, or register to pay by instalments to secure the maximum discount!

To book, follow the link (you will need the password from your bulletin!)
