February was fun filled with a great variety of well attended events. We kicked the month off with the hoedown which I would definitely recommend if it comes round again. A great group joined Mike for a delicious Chinese meal. It was great to see new and old faces at the new member’s event and fizzy Friday.
March starts with catch up drinks at Duttons. We’ll be helping Dave C celebrate a significant birthday and waving bon voyage to Lee as he sets off in search of adventures on the high seas. We’ll round off the month with a stroll along the Dee and a pub lunch.
Please have a think about events for April and get in touch with Laura using the events email at the back of the bulletin.
We’ll be having the AGM in April. Do you think you could spare some time to support the club and join the committee? If so please have a chat with one of the current committee members of go to our website for a description of the roles.
I’d like to welcome Andy, Mel and Jonathan to the club.
See you all soon.
We’ve had a great August kicked off by mine and Carol’s birthday party, it was lovely to see so many of you there. The summer BBQ and Lee’s tour of Chester’s beer gardens were great too.
We have a lot of people signed up on our Meetup site but we need your help. New people are more likely to come along to an event if they see others are going too. Can you please sign up to Meetup and confirm when you’ll be coming along to events. Dave will send out an email with instructions.
In September we have a couple of walks an excellent band and a cinema night and our trip to New York!
The summer starts here! Let’s hope the weather is good to us this year.
As you all know, we had the AGM last month. The committee stayed pretty much the same but with Ellie making the move to the role of Secretary. A new award was introduced, the Chairman’s Award, to be given annually for going above and beyond. This year it was won jointly by Pip and Dave for innovation.
This month we have races, a band night at Telford’s, and our regular New Members’ Event on the18th. You’ll also notice our club night venues have outside spaces so we can enjoy the summer evenings.
Welcome to New member Rosie and welcome back to John.
Come and make new friends and enjoy a wider social life! IVC Chester is a friendly activity and social group for professionals aged 21-45. Our members run a wide variety of events in and around Chester.

This is the last chairman’s chat of 2015. Looking back, we’ve had some great times through the year and I’m looking forward to plenty of good times to come in 2016.
We’ve welcomed some new members and hope to meet lots more new people in the new year.
So let’s raise a glass and welcome in 2016!
I would also like to welcome Alison to the group.
I hope you’re all starting to get into the festive spirit. We’ve got some great events coming up including Jo’s panto, always a great night, a Santander dash, fizzy Friday and of course the Christmas party!
I hope to see as many of you as possible out during this month, it’s always great to catch up with old friends this time of year, so if we haven’t seen you for a while try your best to come along to one of the events.
So I hope you’ve all been good boys and girls and Father Christmas brings you lots if lovely presents.
October has flown by with a few memorable and well attended events. There was a great turn out for Hillary’s farewell curry and Andy’s birthday. I’m sure you’ll all join me in wishing Hillary all the best with her move and the new job.
November is packed with a variety of events from fireworks to a cathedral tour. There should be something for everyone. Please contact the host to let them know if you’re interested in plenty of time if planning is required.
Have a great month and I hope to see you at the upcoming events!
We are having an open event on Saturday 31st of October – between 3 pm and 8pm. Join us if you are interested in finding out more about IVC or think you may want to join the club – we will meet up first then stay on to watch the Rugby World Cup final. If you want to come along to this or any other event get in touch and members will be there to meet and greet you. For further info contact 07518 958 554 or visit www.cnw-ivc.org.uk
I can’t believe how quickly this month has flown by. We had our trip to Dublin where we found some great bars and places to eat, rode the open top bus around the whole city and even found prosecco on tap!! Aidan led a trip down the mines and we topped the month off with a few beers and a curry.
Coming up this month we have some tea parties, birthday celebrations and a farewell. Can you please get in touch with the organisers to let them know if you are coming. A few more changes will be brought in this month. We’ve drafted a ‘how to’ guide to explain to new members how to put on events and Pip is looking into ordering some business cards for the committee to hand out with our contact details on.
Finally, we will be trialling a new section in the bulleting called ‘What’s New With You’ in which members post a little update about anything new they’d like to share with the other members. We haven’t quite got it formatted yet but here’s some exciting news to get the ball rolling. Andy and Rachael would like to let you know about the arrival of baby Daniel last Wednesday (23rd Sept) weighing in at 7lb 13oz. I’m sure you’ll all join me in sending our best wishes and congratulations!
As I write this I’m looking forward to the Cilcain Village show tomorrow and pleased that it seems there’ll quite a good IVC turn out for what seemed at first a slightly random entry into the August diary. On reflection however, it’s really quite representative of what IVC is all about: sharing local hidden treasures, introducing new people to your own favourite places and events and making the most of some time off work and hopefully some good weather!
As autumn is upon us we have a busier diary for September, highlights including Aidan’s Alderley Edge caving trip and a weekend away. Thanks to Jo for organising the weekend in Derwentwater again; hopefully the weather will be kind and it will be a fun, sociable trip to this beautiful part of the lakes. We also have some good nights out planned, and the long awaited second part to the “Ye Olde Ale trail” in Chester. For anyone who missed the first part back in March, talk to any of the large group who took on an epic yet fairly civilised pub crawl around about ten of Chester’s “Heritage” pubs; it was an excellent day!
Don’t forget as well as the public Facebook page we have a private group; if you’re not currently in the group speak to one of the committee and we’ll make sure you’re added. It’s useful for reminders about event details, club night locations, sharing pictures and links and any short-notice items and imminent events. Remember the website and (public) Facebook page are important tools for raising the club profile and attracting new members so interacting with them when you can is appreciated.
Finally, a warm welcome this month to new member Bethany Millen!
