With winter truly upon us it’s time to head for cosy pubs with open fires and festive cheer.
We’ll be kicking off the festivities with Pip’s Xmas Spirit pub crawl, Christmas jumpers, tinsel and even baubles are encouraged! Next is the Mystery of the Flowery Knob (panto!) closely followed by a lovely cosy meal and pub night in the Bear and Billet. We’ve got a fizzy Friday to get us in the mood for the Christmas party on the 22nd – a real night of glitz, glam and indulgence!
Christmas is a time to spend with friends and family. It would be really great to see you over the festive period.
Jingle all the way!
Happy St David’s Day! Spring is finally with us, although it might not feel like it over the next few days.
We have a great variety of events coming up this month, and we’ll be getting out and about from Hawarden to Liverpool and quite a few visits to Deeside. I’m looking forward to the day out in Liverpool for Andy’s birthday and I’m really pleased to see the curling taster on again, I took advantage of this a couple of years ago and can really recommend it, it’s such good fun. We have a couple of film nights and some jazz – nice.
Don’t forget it is the IVC’s birthday next month, an opportunity to party and let your hair down! I’ll be sending mails about it over the next few weeks.
I hope to see lots of you out and about over the month.
Wow, what a start to the year. The New Members’ Event was a roaring success with lots and lots of new faces.
February is looking good with a large variety of events including a trip to the Blue Planet Aquarium, basketball matches, a cinema night and lunch at Chocks Away. There is also a Ceilidh, the last one was great fun and very well attended. On the 23rd raise your glasses to celebrate Mel’s birthday!
Remember, new members (once fully signed up) ought to put an event on within their first 3 months of joining. If you have any ideas please discuss them with Alison W or a member of the Committee and we’ll be more than willing to give you any help you might need.
Finally, the Committee have decided to join our usual Spring Party with the IVC Birthday celebrations (27 years young this year). The celebrations will be in April so keep an eye out for separate mails from me about this.
Happy New Year!
I hope you all had a great time over the festive season and I wish you all a prosperous 2018.
The New Year is the time to reflect on the past year and to look forward to the year to come. We’ve had 21 new members join us in 2017 and put on over 80 events!
I look forward to welcoming even more new members in 2018 and seeing what new events our new members can come up with.
See you soon.
Well August was certainly jam packed with great events! September is looking a little quieter but still has a great variety so whether you’re in the mood for the races, the cinema, a meal out, comic con or a graffiti artist show then we’ve got you covered.
If you haven’t put on an event yet this year then please have a chat with Alison W or a member of the committee.
I’ll be organising the Christmas party over the coming weeks so keep an eye out for my mails.
See you all soon.
I hope you all enjoyed the heat wave last month and are looking forward to more lovely weather in July.
We had some great events last month with comedy, cinema, music and getting crafty. It was also lovely to see so many out on the wobbly walls walk and to see Claire whilst on her trip over from Kuala Lumpur.
July is looking busy kicking off with a walk up Moel Famau, then the Zoo and fizzy Friday for Ellie’s birthday. We’ve also got the very popular all you can eat buffet at the Slow Boat, races and an evening cruise. A trip to Port Sunlight is next followed by a game day then rounded off with a new member’s event. Blimey, talk about a variety!
I’d like to encourage our members to suggest venues for our regular Wednesday club night so if you’ve been somewhere you think we’d enjoy please email me with the details before our next committee meeting on Wednesday 5th July.
I’d like to welcome our newest Members Gem, Dan B and Dan L.
See you soon Rhian
As our AGM is fast approaching I’d like to ask you all to think about what makes our club what it is and think about what could be done to make it even better. I’m proud of our diverse membership and also how some members have chosen to stay part of the group for so long. I feel we could do better at putting on a wider range of events and encouraging members to put on at least one event per year. If you have any ideas on how we could improve things please table motion by emailing our Secretary by the 11th of April.
Through the use of Meetup, new members’ events and our trusty newspaper advert, I’m pleased to say that we are attracting lots of new people.
I hope to see as many of you at possible for our AGM at the Cross Keys on the 19th April. Come along at 7pm for a free drink, the meeting starts at 7:30.
Hi all ,
January is officially behind us, how are you all doing keeping your news year resolutions? We has some lovely events last month including celebrating Carol and Andy’s engagement, jo’s annual house party and a couple of outdoor events.
Yeeha! February starts with a howdown! We’ve also got a meal out and the return of an old favourite Fizzy Friday! We’ve also got a new members event on the 18th so I you have any friends who you’ve been thinking of inviting along then now is the time.
Finally can you all please have a think about putting on an event and getting it in the diary, even if it is in a few months time. We really need your support this year with events, most are put on by the committee so we need you to help out. this group is what the members make of it. Contact us using the events e-mail at the back of the bulletin.
Have a great February
June saw another successful new member’s evening, a lovely afternoon in the Handbridge beer garden, a night out at Telford’s and a cinema night.
Following on from Laura’s email I would like to encourage you all to think about the type of event you would like to put on. If you would like any help or someone to co-host just give one of the committee members a shout.
July sees the return of Claire on the 2nd for a quick visit, birthday drinks with Ellie, Telford’s and a cinema night. We’ve also got our next new members evening on the 30th
Hope you all enjoyed last month’s events. I particularly enjoyed Rhian’s “Are You Feeling Lucky” pub crawl. It’s great to see something a bit different and imaginative on the bulletin. It was enjoyed by all, and there was a great turn out. For those that didn’t join us, the event was a pub crawl with the next pub decided by the throw of a dice with the six sides representing the six nearest pubs. As an added bit of fun we could then bet on which pub we thought would be next with the winners collecting the wagers on each throw. The route ended up being The Boot > Duttons > Botanist > Coach House > Liverpool Arms.
While talking about something a bit different, a new regular event has been added to the bulletin this month thanks to Helen H (aka Tall Helen). It’s one for all you fitness types: she is running an aerobic trampoline event, see the regular events section for more details.
The CNW-IVC AGM is nearing us fast, where we will discuss the club’s future direction and elect a new committee. It’s now looking likely it will be held in early May, due to the AIVC holding their Conference in late April – more details to follow next month.
And finally a big welcome to our newest member Clare Mulholland.
Have a good month everyone 🙂
