Chairman’s Chat – April 2013

Hi everyone,

Spring seems like it might just be here after some dreadful weather last month! We had lots of outdoor stuff on the programme for March which hopefully wasn’t too compromised by the weather! One new outdoor activity which we’ll keep on the programme now as a weekly event for anyone who fancies it is the parkrun at Delamere – register once in advance on www.parkrun.org.uk, print out your barcode, and turn up for 9am any Saturday for a free 5km run. It’s not a race, there will be all abilities but results are published on the web weekly. Current numbers each week are around 80-100 with lots of first timers each week. Should be a great way to get fit for summer! I’m planning to make my debut this weekend, but then as Rich will tell you, I’ve said that before…more than once!

Thanks to Hilary and Jenni for masterminding Easter Sunday’s very well organised Heritage Ale Trail pub crawl. It was an excellent, sociable day around 12 of Chester’s finest (and not so fine) hostelries and a large group of us managed to last the course! I look forward to the second half of the trail!

Lastly it’s the AGM this month so I hope to see most of you there at the Custom House on Wednesday 17th. As always, arrive on time for a free drink! This year as Chairman has largely been really enjoyable and I look forward to reviewing the highlights of the year and setting things in place for the next one with you all then.

Signing off for my term in 2012-13,

Kay
