IVC Book Club
The IVC Book Club started in January 2006 with just three of us. We were partly inspired by the Richard and Judy Book Club but also by a wish to get back into the habit of reading. The first book we chose was a noble choice – Catch 22 by Joseph Heller – but was a resounding “miss”, well for us anyway. Fortunately, we’ve had many more “hits” than “misses” since then! We’ve also grown in numbers to approximately eight and are pleased that some new IVC members have joined us too recently.
We meet approximately every 6 weeks, either in someone’s home or going out for a drink or meal to a local pub. It’s a very informal, friendly group – no-one’s under any pressure to finish the book and discussions are never too in-depth. Below is a list of all the books we’ve read since 2006. Our favourites from 2008 and 2009 were The Road Home by Rose Tremain and Child 44 by Tom Rob Smith.
If you’d like to join us, even if it’s just for one book you fancy reading or if you’ve got any suggestions, please talk to me or one of the other book club members at a club night.
